AUSTRALIAN architect members of the global organisation Architects Declare are having their say on the National Construction Code updates to make sure every new home – without costing more – will raise the required standards of sustainability.

Wood Campus is always keen to promote content and resources which we know will be of interest to our regular visitors and this is why we are drawing your attention to the 8 Billion Trees mission.

8 Billion Trees is dedicated to reducing carbon emissions using tree planting and reforestation projects to offset the carbon footprint of construction, business operations and other daily activities. Renewable building materials, such as ethically sourced timber, provide an excellent medium for ensuring that the trapped carbon remains in the material, while delivering both beauty and strength. And, by offering tree planting offset strategies, the company strives to help builders offset every aspect of construction, creating carbon neutral structures that help reduce the planet’s emissions.

Amongst their many interesting resources and articles they also provide a free Carbon Footprint Calculator and a Construction Carbon Footprint Calculator,  both tools providing a fascinating insight into our ecological impact.
